We are assuming for the moment that Sunday trains, such as they are are unchanged.

We will have a look in the coming days an dsee what the changes are Monday to Saturday. TfW unhelpfully say nothing about our line, so we are not anticipating much..

TfW say:

The review’s aim was to ensure that the timetables best meet the demands of customers and are fit for the needs of passengers. TfW has reviewed all the feedback received during the five-week review hosted earlier this year. We have listened and made some key amendments and changes , where possible, to the initial timetable proposals we set out.

Our long-term strategy has been developed giving very careful consideration to demand and growth trends, as well as social and economic factors and the regular stakeholder feedback we receive about our timetables. In the wake of the Covid 19 pandemic, the way people use public transport for work, education and leisureas changed significantly.

Nearly every service we run requires some form of public subsidy, at a time where budgets are increasingly stretched. As a responsible operator it is imperative that we balance the needs for a regular, robust and reliable service within our budgets and against our targets to deliver more sustainable transport. It’s important to note that every penny we make above and beyond our operating costs, goes back into reducing the subsidy we receive.

We have developed our future timetables to better align with the new travel habits and requirements of customers, whilst becoming a truly multimodal operator. That means we’re looking at demand and the opportunities for growth across bus and rail together. Some routes will see little change, others will see slightly different calling patterns better targeted to current needs, but in other areas we have had to make some tough decisions in order to ensure we provide capacity where most needed, grow revenue and ultimately reduce public subsidy.

Journeys across the network are now increasingly being made on our newer, longer, more reliable trains as we continue to invest in the future of our railway.
