Our hoped for solution for the access to the south bound platform is on hold again. It made a list, and the list got shortened again. Network Rail are the owners, and the funding comes from the Department of Transport via them for what is called the Access for All scheme (AfA).
We understand that Helen Morgan MP met with Lord Hendy in March to discuss Whitchurch. It’s currently on a paused list. From the statement given by Lord Hendy in January, Government are looking for someone else to find the money, so called third party funding..
This link gives a view on where we are in the list of access projects to be done.

It had been previously announced by NR, that their preferred solution is to install lifts on each side of the existing foot bridge. Alternatives would be long foot ramps, or a footpath down to the main road. Apparently the footpath was considered some years ago but was considered too costly and difficult to design as it would need to be fully compliant with handrails, lighting, etc.
